I was born, naked, screaming and backward, and as a result my mother has never forgotten my birthday.
My parents named me after my paternal grandfather and whenever he would introduce me — the firstborn son of his only son — to his friends and business associates, he would always introduce me as “The Real George Booth.”
I grew up in eastern North Carolina and for better or worse, I am a product of the public school system. I was graduated from Davidson College with a degree in Spanish and earned a Master’s degree from the Institute of Textile Technology, which in those days was located in Charlottesville, VA. I have worked in the textile industry in one way or another since my college graduation — with stints in “make stuff”, “sell stuff” and “count the money.”
I have also worked as a worship leader and served as a band booster club president. I serve the local church as an elder. And I currently play bass and sing in a highly-rated variety band in the Charlotte, NC, metro area.
I am still married to my first wife, and we are the parents of two grown sons. The experience of being their father has helped to inform and galvanize the creation of this blog.
I’m a writer, blogger and speaker. I motivate and inspire millennial men to embrace thriving, authentic masculinity and to be the best possible version of themselves.
I verify the authenticity of the content of the blog as the father of the blogger.
Continued best wishes to “The Real George Booth” solid stock.
